Christian Food Pantry
The Christian Food Pantry located at 15290 Hwy. 32, Lakewood, is a ministry of area Christian churches. Contributing congregations include St. John Lutheran, Townsend; St. Mary of the Lakes, Lakewood, St. Ambrose, Wabeno; St. Michael's, Suring; St. Michael's Chapel, Mountain; Forest Larger Parish Presbyterian Churches in Lakewood and Wabeno, and Tabor Lutheran, Mountain. We have been serving the community on a regular basis since March of 1999
Anyone who needs help is welcome to register regardless of income. A box of non-perishable food items is given to each family. The number of items depends on family size as does the amount of the perishable food grocery voucher, ranging from $12 - $72 and good at Mikes in Townsend or Super Valu in Lakewood.
Meat packages from the state TFAP (The Food Assistance Program) are available at each session as well as sundry items including toilet paper and paper towel. At holiday time there are gifts for the children from our "Heart Tree." Registration for the Heart Tree gifts is during October and November thru Thanksgiving week. Hams and turkeys are given out at holiday time.
Donate food stuffs during donatrion hours Tue 8:30-10, Wed. 8:30-10 and 5:30-7, or call Scott at 715-850-0768 to arrange a convenient time.
Our volunteers shelve donated food items and assist with the drive-thru distribution at the open sessions.
