St John Quilters
Our quilters sew quilts for missions around the world and here in our area.
You do not need to know how to sew. Most of our group tie the three layers of the quilts together during this time. Do you know how to make a knot? We have a place for you. We also trim the edges and sew the hems during this time. We pack the quilts in Orphan Grain Train boxes and they ship them around the world for us. We make more than 100 quilts each year. Some of the quilts stay at St. John and are given to local people in crisis. We also need people who can work at home.
People have been very generous giving us material. Our home projects include cutting material into squares, laying the squares out in a pleasing arrangement for others to sew, and sewing the squares together so they are ready for quilting. You do not need to do all these jobs. We welcome all ages to come help us.
